Members of North-east Scotland’s business community are once again showing their support for the region’s third sector by coming on board as sponsors of this year’s Celebrate Aberdeen Awards.
Principal sponsors for 2024 are energy sector operators CNR International and CNOOC International, both longtime supporters of Celebrate Aberdeen Awards.
Other long-standing sponsors and supporters include Cala Homes, Aberdeen Inspired, Hampton and Breakwater Agency with Harbour Energy also coming on board as a sponsor for 2024.
The awards ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, October 26th at The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen, recognises and pays tribute to the positive impact individuals, organisations, and volunteers in the third sector make to thousands of lives across Aberdeen City and Shire.
Awards will be presented in eight categories this year, including Large and Small Organisations of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Young Supporter of the Year, with the finalists being announced in mid-September.
Now in its fifth year the event, which is completely funded by sponsors, could not take place without their ongoing support. Thanks to their generosity, every finalist and supporters will attend the gala event free of charge, ensuring that no-one is unable to attend because of cost.
“Once again we’d like to thank our sponsors for making this special night possible,” said Celebrate Aberdeen volunteer Susan Crighton. “In addition to our principal sponsors, huge thanks go also to other local businesses that have signed up to sponsor the award categories and to our small team of volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to plan and run the Celebrate Aberdeen events.”
Barry Duncan, Managing Director & VP Finance, CNR International (UK) Limited, said: “CNR International is very pleased to support Celebrate Aberdeen’s fifth awards ceremony. We have supported Celebrate Aberdeen from the very start, 13 years ago, because we appreciate the value and well-deserved recognition this brings to the third sector.
“These continue to be challenging times for thousands of people across the region and so many third sector organisations do fantastic work to help ease the way. This really is a celebration recognising the commitment of these charities, their staff and their volunteers and the outstanding contribution they make to our society.”
Mark Berry, Manager, Management Systems, CNOOC International, said: “The third sector, its charities and community groups sit right at the heart of local communities right across the North-east. Throughout the year, they are providing lifechanging health, wellbeing, and financial support to thousands of people across the region.
“This is a special night that turns the spotlight on the sector. CNOOC International has supported this event from the beginning, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Celebrate Aberdeen once again to once again recognise some of the people who making this difference and who shape our strong community spirit.”
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “We are delighted to once again sponsor and support the Celebrate Aberdeen Awards – an event that truly is one of the most joyous and uplifting in the Granite City’s calendar.
“Those in the third sector being recognised on this glittering evening represent the best of Aberdeen, every one of them working tirelessly to help others, help their communities and make this such a special place to live, work and play. Of course, before the Awards Night in October we have the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade to look forward to on Saturday, August 31. Let’s line the streets to cheer, applaud and give these remarkable people back some of the warmth and love they show us all year round.”
Fraser Carr, Sales & Marketing Director, Cala Homes, said: “Cala is delighted to have played a part in supporting Celebrate Aberdeen since 2015. As an organisation with our long term roots in the city we can see the importance of helping promote the incredible often unseen work of the third sector in Aberdeen. So many of these causes and their stories are both inspiring and humbling, often having a significant positive impact in local communities which is something that aligns closely with our aims at Cala.”
Laura Irving, Chief Counsel - Legal, North Sea & Energy Transition at Harbour Energy, said: “The Celebrate Aberdeen awards are vital in recognising the positive impact charities have on communities across the northeast of Scotland and we are proud to sponsor the Young Supporter of the Year category. It’s inspiring to see young people making a difference, and dedicating time to help others.
“We hope that, by helping to celebrate these achievements, we can encourage their continued efforts to ensure a bright future for our community, while motivating others to follow in their footsteps.”
The awards will follow on from the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade which will take place on Saturday, August 31, with support from Aberdeen City Council.
